How To Deal With Disappointment

• When you disappoint, what do you do with the disappointment?

Disappointment with God

• When we think that God allows an unsatisfactory or unacceptable situation, we will disappoint God.
• When we think that God does not keep his covenant and his promises, we will disappoint God.
• When we think that God does not save us in the present as he did in the past, we will disappoint God.
• When we think that God does not answer our prayers, we will disappoint God.
• When we think that God does not reveal the duration of our sufferings, we will disappoint God.

Disappointment with People

• When we think that we are rejected, we will disappoint the people.
• When we think that we are let down, we will disappoint the people.
• When we think that we are betrayed, we will disappoint the people.
• When we think that our needs are unmet, we will disappoint the people.
• When we think that we are judged, we will disappoint the people.

Exploration

When we are disappointed, first recognize the disappointments.

• Psalm 32:5 So I confessed my sins and told them all to you. I said, “I’ll tell the Lord each one of my sins.”Then you forgave me  and took away my guilt.
• 5. நான் என் அக்கிரமத்தை மறைக்காமல், என் பாவத்தை உமக்கு அறிவித்தேன்; என் மீறுதல்களைக் கர்த்தருக்கு அறிக்கையிடுவேன் என்றேன்; தேவரீர் என் பாவத்தின் தோஷத்தை மன்னித்தீர்.
• 1 Timothy 4:15-16 15 Remember these things and think about them, so everyone can see how well you are doing. 16 Be careful about the way you live and about what you teach. Keep on doing this, and you will save not only yourself, but the people who hear you.
• 15. நீ தேறுகிறது யாவருக்கும் விளங்கும்படி இவைகளையே சிந்தித்துக்கொண்டு, இவைகளிலே நிலைத்திரு.16. உன்னைக்குறித்தும் உபதேசத்தைக்குறித்தும் எச்சரிக்கையாயிரு, இவைகளில் நிலைகொண்டிரு, இப்படிச் செய்வாயானால், உன்னையும் உன் உபதேசத்தைக் கேட்பவர்களையும் இரட்சித்துக்கொள்ளுவாய்.

When we are disappointed, take them to the Lord in prayers

• Philippians.4:6-7:6 Don’t worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God. 7 Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
• 6. நீங்கள் ஒன்றுக்குங் கவலைப்படாமல், எல்லாவற்றையுங்குறித்து உங்கள் விண்ணப்பங்களை ஸ்தோத்திரத்தோடே கூடிய ஜெபத்தினாலும் வேண்டுதலினாலும் தேவனுக்குத் தெரியப்படுத்துங்கள்.7. அப்பொழுது, எல்லாப் புத்திக்கும் மேலான தேவசமாதானம் உங்கள் இருதயங்களையும் உங்கள் சிந்தைகளையும் கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவுக்குள்ளாகக் காத்துக்கொள்ளும்.
• 1 Peter.5:6-7:6 Be humble in the presence of God’s mighty power, and he will honor you when the time comes. 7 God cares for you, so turn all your worries over to him.

When we are disappointed, realign our perspectives on our expectations based on the word of God

• Psalm.73:26: My body and mind may fail, but you are my strength and my choice forever.
• 26. என் மாம்சமும் என் இருதயமும் மாண்டுபோகிறது; தேவன் என்றென்றைக்கும்  என் இருதயத்தின் கன்மலையும் என் பங்குமாயிருக்கிறார்.
• 2 Corinthians.4:17-18:17 These little troubles are getting us ready for an eternal glory that will make all our troubles seem like nothing. 18 Things that are seen don’t last forever, but things that are not seen are eternal. That’s why we keep our minds on the things that cannot be seen.
• 17. மேலும் காணப்படுகிறவைகளையல்ல, காணப்படாதவைகளை நோக்கியிருக்கிற நமக்கு, அதிசீக்கிரத்தில் நீங்கும் இலேசான நம்முடைய உபத்திரவம் மிகவும் அதிகமான நித்திய கனமகிமையை உண்டாக்குகிறது.18. ஏனெனில், காணப்படுகிறவைகள் அநித்தியமானவைகள், காணப்படாதவைகளோ நித்தியமானவைகள்.

When we are disappointed, learn from them and let them go

• Romans 8:28:28 We know that God is always at work for the good of everyone who loves him.[a] They are the ones God has chosen for his purpose,
• 28. அன்றியும், அவருடைய தீர்மானத்தின்படி அழைக்கப்பட்டவர்களாய் தேவனிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறவர்களுக்குச் சகலமும் நன்மைக்கு ஏதுவாக நடக்கிறதென்று அறிந்திருக்கிறோம்.
• Hebrews.12:1:Such a large crowd of witnesses is all around us! So we must get rid of everything that slows us down, especially the sin that just won’t let go. And we must be determined to run the race that is ahead of us.
• 1. ஆகையால், மேகம்போன்ற இத்தனை திரளான சாட்சிகள் நம்மைச் சூழ்ந்துகொண்டிருக்க, பாரமான யாவற்றையும், நம்மைச் சுற்றி நெருங்கிநிற்கிற பாவத்தையும் தள்ளிவிட்டு, விசுவாசத்தைத் துவக்குகிறவரும் முடிக்கிறவருமாயிருக்கிற இயேசுவை நோக்கி, நமக்கு நியமித்திருக்கிற ஓட்டத்தில் பொறுமையோடே ஓடக்கடவோம்;

When we are disappointed, thank God for maturing us through them.

• 1 Corinthians.13:11:When we were children, we thought and reasoned as children do. But when we grew up, we quit our childish ways.
• 11. நான் குழந்தையாயிருந்தபோது குழந்தையைப்போலப் பேசினேன், குழந்தையைப்போலச் சிந்தித்தேன், குழந்தையைப்போல யோசித்தேன்; நான் புருஷனானபோதோ குழந்தைக்கேற்றவைகளை ஒழித்துவிட்டேன்.
• Psalm.144:1: I praise you, Lord!You are my mighty rock,[a]and you teach me how to fight my battles.
• 1. என் கைகளைப் போருக்கும் என் விரல்களை யுத்தத்திற்கும் படிப்பிக்கிற என் கன்மலையாகிய கர்த்தருக்கு ஸ்தோத்திரம்.

When we are disappointed, focus on ultimate purpose God in our lives.

• Philippians.4:8:8 Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper. Don’t ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.
• 8. கடைசியாக, சகோதரரே, உண்மையுள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, ஒழுக்கமுள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, நீதியுள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, கற்புள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, அன்புள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, நற்கீர்த்தியுள்ளவைகளெவைகளோ, புண்ணியம் எதுவோ, புகழ் எதுவோ அவைகளையே சிந்தித்துக்கொண்டிருங்கள்.
• Proverbs.4:25:    Keep looking straight ahead, without turning aside.
• 25. உன் கண்கள் நேராய் நோக்கக்கடவது; உன் கண்ணிமைகள் உனக்கு முன்னே செவ்வையாய்ப் பார்க்கக்கடவது.
