Better is one day in your courts
Than a thousand elsewhere... V. 10
D.L.Moody once said, "Church attendance is as vital to a disciple as a transfusion of rich, healthy blood to a sick man".
John Wesley said, "The Bible knows nothing of solitary religion".
John Stott, the great Christian theologian, once said, "An unchurched Christian is a grotesque anomaly. The New Testament knows nothing of such a person. For the church lies at the very center of the eternal purpose of God. It is not a divine after thought. It is not an accident of history. On the contrary, the Church is God's new community".
"The Lord added to their number daily those who were saved" (Acts 2:47b)
According to the book of Acts, God Himself at work is adding the saved Christians to the early Church. So, the church lies at the very center of the eternal purpose of God.
In the Psalm 84, the Psalmists, longing to be in God's house even for a day than a thousand elsewhere, He longs to be a door keeper in the house of God than dwell in the tents of the wicked" (V. 10)
David says in Psalm 122:1 , "I rejoiced with those who said to me , Let us go to the house of the Lord". Do you have the same joy that David had in going to the house of God?
There was a story about a nobleman in a small town in Europe. He was a wealthy Christian . He wanted to leave a legacy behind him to his Christian fellowmen. There was no good church building for people to worship. So, he decided to build a church as his contribution to his community of faith. He did not reveal the entire plan of the church to anyone until the completion. After the completion the community of faith gathered. After looking around the Church, they asked the nobleman, where are the lamps ? How will the church be lighted?
The nobleman pointed to some brackets in the wall, then he gave each family a lamp to be carried to the worship service and hung on its proper place on the wall. Each time you are there, the area you are seated will be lighted. Each time you are not there, that area will be dark. Whenever you fail to come to Church, some part of God's home will be dark.
Cultivate the habit of going to church regularly and tag fully every week. God bless you.
