Psalm 69 Part 1
“Save me, O God…” Psalm 69:1-3
In his book, “The survivor’s Club’, Ben Sherwood quotes Ray Smith who co-authored, ‘ How to survive on land and sea’ for the Naval Surviving Training Institute in Pensacola ,Florida when asked What is the secret of survival , Smith states ,”Faith in God.. It is major factor in all survival scenarios.” Sherwood goes on to point out different studies on how religion prolongs your life. He does not write from a Christian perspective but does not downplay role of faith in a crisis.
David won in a crisis situation though we are told what it exactly was. ”waters have come up to his neck” – many enemies – may too many to count – are tightening their nooses around his weak and tiny neck. Helpless and hopeless, He cries out to his only Saviour, his God. He says in verse 3, “ I am worn out calling for help”. It could mean he was so much weakened physically and psychologically, calling for help from men of his supporters or He was worn out over the silence of his God as there seems to be a delay in God’s help coming for his rescue!
He knew God’s delays are not his denials. God’s watchful eyes and ever-listening ears are always open on His children- the truth that David never forgets in all his life.
Do you feel ‘worn out’ calling for help? Cheer up! He knows what you are going through. At his appointed time, He will come for your rescue- Sure He will.
God bless you!!
