Psalm 57:2 -part 3.
“I cry out to God most high, to God who fulfills his purpose for me”
Acclaimed Oxford Zoologist Richard Dawkins said, “The scientifically literate know there is no reason why we exist. We just do as an accident of history. No design, no purpose, no evil and no good, nothing but pointless indifference”
Are we just, cosmically inconsequential bundles of stardust adrift in an infinite and purposeless universe? David was running for his life from the 3000 strong armed men of Saul. He was hiding in a cave, dark, and deadly place. One thing that he realizes was that he is not alone there. There is God who has been leading him all through his life’s mysterious experiences. Even in his cave-like existence he could see God’s unfailing purpose for his life. It is not an accident he is in the cave. He knew it is part of God’s purpose for his life.
Rick Warren in his popular book,’ The purpose-driven life’ says that we are not here for any purpose of ours. None at all. Instead, “I was created for God’s purpose” He puts us here for his reasons, for his purposes, to meet his goals, and objectives not ours.
David in verse 2 says “he fulfills his purpose for me” He not only has a purpose for my life, he also fulfills it!
Do you know that God has a purpose for your life? Do you know that he can also fulfill his purpose for your life? No force on this earth can destroy or divert his purpose He has for you.
When the great stalwart of faith, George Muller’s wife died after 39 years of successful married life with Muller, He had to preach in her funeral service. This is what he preached, “I miss her in numberless ways. I shall miss her yet more and more. But as a child of God and the servant of the Lord, Jesus Christ I am satisfied with the will of my heavenly Father. I seek by perfect submission to his holy will to glorify him. I kiss continually the Hand that has afflicted me”
How are you handling your cave-like experiences? Be like David to be assured of God’s purpose in such trying situations and also be like George Muller to learn to kiss the Hand that has afflicted you with the cave-like experiences. God bless you. Pastor Lite
