PSALM 56:8-PART 3
“RECORD MY LAMENT, LIST MY TEARS ON YOUR SCROLL, AND ARE THEY NOT IN YOUR RECORD?”
The great missionary to India, Stanly Jones, in his book Christ and human suffering, writes “We see that the universe had to be hard. But it is not, ‘a vale of tears’ rather it is a vale of character-making and character cannot be made except in the strain and stress and struggles. We cannot cry out and say ‘Why hast thou made me thus’-for the Lord has not made us yet, he is only in the process. Faith in God and his redemptive purpose will not save you from the trouble but save you through them”
This world in which we live is a vale of character-making for which, God in his holy will and right, uses all our strain, stress, and struggles as tools.
David in Psalm 56:8 says that God keeps a record of all our tears and laments. Sometimes we wonder whether anyone knows what we are going through in life.
In our intolerable stress and struggle we mistakenly think that no one cares for us, and all our torrential tears go unnoticed by others. This is not true. There is a God, Christ Jesus, who keeps all our tears in his wine skin (v.8) and keeps a record of all our painful sighs.
The exponent of Atheism, Huxley, questioned the personal interest and involvement of God in the human life. He said, “I cannot see one shadow or tittle of evidence that the great unknown underlying the phenomenon on the universe stands to us in the relation of a father, loves and cares for us as Christianity asserts”
How grossly he has misunderstood and mistaken the unchanging nature of a loving, and a personal God in Christ Jesus of the Bible! He is a God who died a violent and a vicarious death on the rugged Roman cross to express His solidarity with us in all our sufferings. He is a crucified Messiah, as such; he knows all your pains and problems you are going through in your life. He is a God who weeps for you and with you.
Cheer up! Do not feel despondent and dejected when the going gets tough, when you are drowning in the tears of sorrow. God is in charge of your tears. He will see you through all your painful realities of life. God bless you all. Pastor Lite.
