PSALM 55:22—PART 1
“CAST YOUR CARES ON THE LORD AND HE WILL SUSTAIN YOU”
There is a funny doggerel about worrying that goes this way:
You have either good health or bad health
If you have good health, there is no worry,
If you have bad health, you either get better or you get worse,
If you get better, no worry,
If you get worse, you either live or you die,
If you live there is no worry, but if you die,
You either go to heaven or to hell,
If you go to heaven, there is no worry,
If you go to hell, there is no worry because you will meet all your friends and relatives there, so why worry?
We are all worriers at different levels. Benedon health care provider’s survey in the UK, asked the question, “How much time you spend worrying”? Responses are: Each week people spend 14:31 hours worrying.
That is 744 hrs. Each year,
45,243 hours over a life time.
1885 days in a lifetime.
That is 5.2 years of life, worrying.
Faith and worry do not live in the same house. The great man of faith, George Mueller said, “The beginning of anxiety is the end of faith and beginning of faith is the end of anxiety” If you are given to too much worrying, you not only prove your lack of faith in God and also you are breaking the commandment of The Lord Jesus Christ( Matthews,31,34). Breaking the command of God is a sin!
David was running to save his life from the cruel and cunning Saul who sent his soldiers after David to kill him. David had every reason to worry and be fearful for his life. But David found a solution to his worry problem in God who really cares for him. As the theologian Alan Stibbs said, “You cannot throw away our troubles. We cannot run away from our problems or pretend they do not exist. But we can get rid of anxiety that caused by our troubles”
Are you burdened with lots of cares and worries? David did, “cast them on the Lord” (Psalm 55:22); so did the apostle Peter (1 peter 5:7).
Do not worry about anything in life cast all your worries all the caring and trustworthy bosom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, IN JESUS NAME, AMEN, pastor lite
