Psalm 51:10-part 7
“Create in me a clean heart”
Once the great American boxing legend, Mahammad Ali, was asked, “what does your faith mean to you?” He said,” It means a ticket to heaven. One day we are all going to die and God is going to judge our good and bad deeds. If tour bad deeds outweigh the good you go to hell. If the good deeds outweigh the bad you go to heaven. I go to parties, see good looking girls. I take a box of matches with me. When I see a girl I want to flirt with, which is sin, so I light my matches and touch my finger with it.Hell hurts more than this. Buy a box of matches and carry them with you”
According Mohammad Ali, sin is external, not internal. He seems to take the fruit of the sin seriously rather than the root of the sin-The heart. The Bible says our problem is not outside of us; our problem was inside of us. Jeremiah 17:9 says, “The heart of man is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked” In Mark7:14 our Lord said, “Nothing outside a man can defile them by going into them. Rather it is what comes out of a person that defiles them”
That is why David cries out to God, “Create in me a clean heart”( v.10).He wants God to deal with the root of his sin—The heart.
How is your heart condition? Turn it over to God who is its creator that He will set it right for you cleansing it of all its sins. AMEN Pastor lite
