The Lord was with Joseph and he prospered … - Gen 39:2
Martin Luther, the great theologian ever lived, once said “God’s presence is always directly discernable. He is, in, with and under every event and relationship of life”. One truth that the world is breaking its brains over is whether God is present or absent in the lives of the people. German existentialist, Martin Heideggar daringly asserts, “I do not deny God, I state His absence. Here is the problem of this world.”
Joseph was nearly 250 miles from his father’s home, totally alienated from his father’s love and an innocent victim of his brothers’ treachery. He is now, sold, secluded and slighted. One great lesson that he learnt in his exile was that he was not alone!. God was with him. Jews of his time strongly believed that God was present only within Jerusalem. But Joseph began to realize that there is no place on the earth where you can be alone without God.
Our Lord Jesus rightly pointed out that he was never alone because He was always doing the Father’s will. If you commit yourself to doing the Lord’s will always, God in Christ will always be with you anytime, anywhere. What blessing can be greater than the blessing of the Lord’s presence!
